Dr. Antonios Hatziefremidis, received in 1995 the diploma of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and in 1999 the Doctoral Diploma in Optical Telecommunications from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. During of his Dissertation, he was a key member of the Photonic Communications research laboratory, where he worked in the areas of optical amplifiers, lasers, optical sources, optical switching and networks. In 2001 he joined the Hellenic Aviation Industry, initially in the Research & Development department and then in the Satellite Communications and Applications Department, where he worked as a Supervisor for four years, with the objective of developing fixed and mobile satellite systems for the Armed Forces of Greece, having the responsibility for important projects. Since 2008 he has been an Associate Professor of the Aircraft Technology Engineering Department of the Technological Educational Institute of Chalkida and since 2019 he has been a Professor of the Aerospace Science and Technology Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) in the field of Aircraft Telecommunications. From 1996 until today, he has participated in a large number of research programs funded by National and European funds. His research interests are in the design and development of optical logic devices, photonic signal processing subsystems for optical networks, high-speed OTDM/DWDM optical sources, wireless optical communications, satellite applications, telecommunications and unmanned aerial vehicles. His research work has been published in a large number of peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and is internationally recognized by the research community.
