Xanthippi Zianni obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece, and her PhD in Theoretical Solid State Physics from the University of Warwick, UK. She is currently a Professor of Physics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She previously held positions at the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Sterea Ellada and TEI of Chalkida.

Her teaching repertoire includes: undergraduate Physics courses at the University of Warwick, TEI of Chalkida, TEI of Athens, and Hellenic Airforce Academy 'IKARON'; 'Technical Thermodynamics' at the Hellenic Airforce Technical Academy 'STYA'; 'Device Physics' in the MSc program at the University of Athens and IMEL/NCSR 'Demokritos'; ‘Transport Properties of Solids' as part of the 2nd cycle SGM at INSA de Lyon; 'Nanoelectronic Devices’ in the MSc program 'Microsystems and Nanodevices' of the NTUA.Additionally, she has delivered lectures on Thermoelectric effects and Transport properties at international summer schools. Since 2020, she has been a member of the academic staff in the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (AEST) at NKUA. There, she developed and currently coordinates the Laboratories for 'Physics I (Mechanics)' and 'Physics II (Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics)'. She also teaches the undergraduate courses 'Mechanics' and 'Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics'.

Her research interests lie in theoretical condensed matter physics and computational modelling. She has extensively worked on electron and phonon properties in low-dimensional, amorphous, composite, and nanomaterials and devices, focusing on electric, magnetic, optical, thermal, and thermoelectric properties at the nanoscale. XZ has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Athens as well as at the NCSR 'Demokritos', within the Institutes of Materials Science (IMS) and Microelectronics (IMEL). Throughout her academic career, she has collaborated with academic and research Institutions, such as the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INN) at NCSR 'Demokritos', the Department of Materials Science at the University of Milano Bicocca, Italy, MATEIS and CETHIL at INSA de Lyon, France, LEMTA at the University of Lorraine, France, and the Physics Department (Nanometer Structure Consortium) at the University of Lund, Sweden. XZ is a member of the International and European Thermoelectric Societies and the European Network on Thermal Nanosciences and Nanoengineering. XZ is also an academician of the International Thermoelectric Academy (ITA) and has contributed to the organizing and scientific committees of numerous national and international conferences.
